Sesshomaru and Rin (16 +) as lovers?
This blog serves as a foundation for this page, not just this page. The belief of them being father and daughter or Sesshomaru being an father figure or he raised her is just misinterpretations. It is not wrong to have our own interpretation but those ideas are not supported by the manga or animation. Fans are okay to dislike this pairing but not attacking, use criminal terms against them or shaming others.
Most, if not all, Sessrin shippers don’t ship 8-10 year-old Rin with physically 19 years-old Sesshomaru. She is of age.
Canon: They are companions. Manga character profile she is not listed under kin, she is listed under servant with Jaken and A-un. They have a master/servant relationship. Japanese language supports this but the meanings can’t be fully translated in English and other languages.
Sesshomaru falling in love, being attracted to her personality is not being sexually attracted to her when she is a child. This is not child grooming, or anything negative. who ever places these negative views on Sesshoumaru are not true fans of Sesshoumaru or Rumiko Takahashi Sensei's work. When they thinking this way they do not demean the pairing but they demean Sesshoumaru, Takahashi Sensei, and themselves.
Sesshomaru meeting Rin, leaving her with Keade, and visiting her over the years then to a romantic love is not bad. There are many stories platonic love that goes into romantic love. This example also shows a platonic love can go to a romantic love. In Hotarubi no mori e, Gin was a human, turned into a youkai. He meets Kotaru when is she 6. They meet for years and they fall in love by the she reached the age he appears to be. She was younger than Rin.
In Japan, they would see Rin and Sesshoumaru as potential lovers when Rin gets older. That is why the drama cd has him purposing. They would make something that would sale because they want to make money and showing there is a big population that ships them together. Most would see the kimono Rin receives as an act of courting. Not many, if any, Japanese people would see them as father and daughter.
Courtship is different in Japan and could take years compare to USA customs.
In the main part of the series, Miroku is 18 years-old and Sango is 16 years-old, when Kagome returned in the final they had twin girls who are 2-3 years old. Sango was 17 years-old when she had the twins.
-Japanese Consent Law-
The manga is wrote with modern views and modern language. Therefore, Rin could be 16 when they get married
The sources state the age of current times is 16 years-old with consent and 18 years-old when they can choose. In one source following the laws for modern times it said an 18 and 19 year old could not be together because of laws without having the intentions to get married with consent.
Kagura and Sesshoumaru could not be together in modern times unless they want to get married and have consent. The laws are strict in Japan but it is to protect their citizens. Their age of consent is 13 years-old but that is for under 17 years-old not older.
Kagura was only a few months old and appeared 17 years-old. Kagura has an older sister, Kanna appears 10 years old but only a few months old as well. If people were shipping Sesshoumaru and Kanna would there be the fight as with Sesshoumaru and Rin? When she is older than Kagura? and when Rin is actually older than both Kagura and Kanna? If this is indeed about age with Rin than why ship Sesshoumaru with someone who is 4 or 5 months old? Why would Sesshoumaru/ Kagura be okay and not Sesshoumaru/Kanna.
Rin will age and when she is adult, age does not matter like how people perceives Kagura being an 17 years-ok’d instead of how long she lived. As said in the age page, we are supposed to see Sesshoumaru as 19 years old and not how long he had lived. Double Standards. Having no standards on one character (Kagura) and have double standards on other one (Rin/ Kanna) is just wrong, isn't? Double standards "a set of principles that applies differently and usually more rigorously to one group of people or circumstances than to another especially : a code of morals that applies more severe standards," to a human girl that will age and has lived longer than a few months old youkai appearing to be 17 years old.

What we learn by his mother in Volume 48, it could had been anyone close to Sesshoumaru that would cause the change in his heart. In addition, in the character section in the manga, when Rin is there like volume 48 and volume 54, it said she brings out the best in him. Since he meet Rin she has taught him a lot and has changed him. She planted the seeds of kindness, always seem him as kind, and seems to understand him. In my experience, normally when someone bring out the best in someone else, usually it is the one your meet to be with not “a potential daughter.” This does not mean someone coming into your life and changing one view, Rin changed him, how he felt and thought. He became a better (man) Youkai. if not for Rin, Sesshoumaru would never change or received the meidou. It took time for those seeds to grow and for him to realize a new path in his heart and probably why his heart did not change sooner to make the tenseiga change. Meaning it was just time for him to take that big first step and looking at this way I bet there were other ways for him to take that step. He changed, he came more tolerable to others. Got over his prejudice. He even treats Inuyasha different and I don’t believe he really wanted to kill him through the series. Just mislead anger.
They only have a platonic love but when she gets older a romantic love can happen. Sesshoumaru learns how precious she is to him when she died the second time, which can be a daughter, young sister, companion, or even lover. That is up to the reader. Even if the manga indicates something else like companions or future lovers. There is a reason why the writers did movie 3 and the cd. There is a reason there are always comparison in between Rin to Kagome.

Sesshomaru had always let her defend for her self and make her choice. Considering since he has years of mislead anger effecting him. He was guarded and only an innocent unconditional love of a child break those walls.
Kimonos-
Kimonos have symbolism and meaning.
The writers of this blog is not familiar with patterns and symbolic meanings.
However, Sesshomaru giving Kimonos to Rin would be interpreted at courtship in the Japanese culture. More on courting down below.
If Rin was 8:
Rin would be 17/18 when she had the twins. When the twins are 4, Rin would be 21/22 and Sota is either her age or a year older, he would be able to raise Towa at 20 or 21 and he raised her for 10 years. That means Rin would be 31/32 years old by the time the twins are 14. That means from the special chapter that takes 6 months after the final to when the new series starts, 19 to 20 years has passed.
